# Merget in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and ChatGPT

Step 2 of https://sema.merget.ai/agent-setup/prompt.md, for a chat app with no shell: every step here is the human's, so give them the steps for their app, then wait. When `merget_status` is among your tools, continue at the prompt's step 3.

## claude.ai and Claude Desktop

Connectors belong to the Claude account, so one connector serves the web app and the desktop app.

1. Customize › Connectors › + Add › Add custom connector.
2. Name: Merget. Remote MCP server URL: `https://sema.merget.ai/mcp`. Continue.
3. Authentication: Sign in now. OAuth client: Use Claude's published identity (recommended; Register automatically works too — the choice is final for that connector). No request headers. Add.
4. Sign in on Merget's page: pick the organization and your permissions.
5. In a chat, open + › Connectors and turn Merget on.

Team and Enterprise plans: an owner adds the connector under Organization settings › Connectors (Custom › Web); each member then connects it from Customize › Connectors. A Free plan allows one custom connector.

To sign in again (another account, other permissions): disconnect the connector and connect it again. A connector cannot be edited: remove it and add it again.

## ChatGPT

A custom MCP server is added as a plugin, on the web; the account's and the workspace's policies decide whether the human may add one.

1. Plugins › + › Add custom MCP server.
2. Name: Merget. Connection: Server URL `https://sema.merget.ai/mcp`. Authentication: OAuth. Review the warning (I understand and want to continue), then Create as a plugin.
3. Install the plugin: it is listed under the personal plugins, or in the workspace it was created in. Sign in on Merget's page and pick the organization and your permissions.

## Check

Ask the human whether Merget is on among the chat's connectors; your tools then include `merget_status`. If it is connected and the tools are still missing, start a new chat.

## Dead ends

- `invalid_redirect_uri`, "doesn't recognize this application", or a connector that stops connecting: point the human to https://sema.merget.ai/orgs/<slug>/docs/mcp.
- A chat app installs no skills, and an agent with no browser of its own cannot sign in here (a headless agent takes an agent key instead, created by the human under Settings › Agents); Merget's tools describe themselves, so start with `merget_status`.
