# Merget in Devin

Step 2 of https://sema.merget.ai/agent-setup/prompt.md, for Devin's cloud sessions, the Devin CLI and Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf). Run the commands yourself; the human signs in. When `merget_status` is among your tools, continue at the prompt's step 3.

## Install

Plugin, the usual route: Merget's MCP server and skills in one unit (Devin reads the plugin's `.claude-plugin/plugin.json`). At the personal scope, the default, it follows the human into cloud sessions and onto their other devices.

```
devin plugins install MergetAI/merget-plugin
```

MCP server only (no skills): in the app, Customize › MCPs › Add MCP › Add custom MCP, URL `https://sema.merget.ai/mcp`, authentication OAuth, save, then Connect; in the CLI, `devin mcp add merget --url https://sema.merget.ai/mcp`, then `devin mcp login merget`. Skills by hand: `npx -y skills add MergetAI/merget-plugin -a devin -g -y` (to `~/.config/devin/skills`) — not with the plugin, it ships them. One route or the other: the plugin and a hand-added server at the same URL list every tool twice.

## Sign in

Installing and signing in are separate steps. In the app the human opens the plugin's MCP under Customize › MCPs and chooses Connect, which runs Merget's sign-in; in the CLI, `devin mcp login merget` opens the browser. On Merget's sign-in page they pick the organization and your permissions; `devin mcp logout merget`, then login again, changes either. Every client keeps its own sign-in: Devin Desktop and the CLI sign in separately.

## Check

The `merget` row under Customize › MCPs says Connected and lists the tools; the CLI: `devin mcp list`. Start a new session after installing; if the tools are missing, Connect (or log in) again.

## Updates

`devin plugins update merget` (`devin plugins update` for every plugin).

## Dead ends

- No shell: hand the commands to the human, or they install from Customize.
- `-g` writes under the home directory; the sandbox may ask the human to approve it.
- `invalid_redirect_uri`, or a saved connection that stops connecting: stop and point the human to https://sema.merget.ai/orgs/<slug>/docs/mcp.
- An organization-scoped install can share one connection for everyone: ask the human to install at the personal scope, or set the server's Access to Personal, so each member signs in as themselves. A headless run with no browser to sign in takes an agent key, created by the human under Settings › Agents, in the server's `Authorization: Bearer` header.
